The women's soccer team was defeated 8-0 at home by North Country CC on Saturday.
SUNY Broome started the match strong on its home field, contending with the Saints for a strong portion of the first half. The Hornets matched possession and opportunity with the Saints, shutting down North Country's offensive attack until the 27th minute. At that point, the first goal of the contest was scored as the Saints found a 1-0 lead.
The initial score started a scoring run for North Country to end the half, as the Saints collected three more goals, each two minutes apart from one another, to take a 4-0 lead at the break.
The Hornets continued their efforts to fight back in the second half of the contest as Adrianna Finta registered two shots on goal while Paige Weaver registered one, but the Saints added four more goals over the second stanza.
Hornets' goalkeeper Madeline Hyzer made 10 saves in the contest.
SUNY Broome had won two matches in a row entering Saturday, but now the Hornets will look to start a new win streak beginning next Wednesday at Onondaga CC.
