Women's Soccer Outlasted By Corning In 1-0 Final

SUNY Broome showcased strong possession of the ball in the first half, repeatedly attacking in Corning's half of the field and firing off 14 shots while limiting the Red Barons to just two shots in the stanza. Despite the control of the ball, none of the plethora of shots found the net for SUNY Broome so the contest was tied at 0-0 entering halftime.
The Hornets' opportunities carried over into the second half, especially when SUNY Broome was set up with a penalty kick attempt in the 49th minute. The Corning goalkeeper, however, made a save on Adrianna Finta's strike.
The score finally moved away from a tie when Corning broke through in the 59th minute, sneaking a shot past Hornets' goalkeeper Madeline Hyzer. Despite the setback, SUNY Broome continued to dominate the run of play, firing off another 10 shots in the second half including an advantageous opportunity from Finta that went off the crossbar.
In all, the Hornets outshot the Red Barons 24-6 and earned 12 corner kicks, as well as one penalty kick attempt, but could not convert any chances into goals.
Finta led the Hornets with six shots on goal while Paisley Jeziorski had five shots on goal and Paige Weaver registered four shots on goal. Hyzer picked up five saves in six opportunities, yielding just the one Corning goal in the second half.
SUNY Broome will look to rebound at home this Saturday in a conference matchupvs Finger Lakes CC.
