Men's Basketball Falls At Genesee

The Cougars were unranked in the NJCAA Division 3 men's basketball national rankings at the time of the contest, but moved to 18-7 with the win, and were subsequently slotted in at #13 overall in the latest set of rankings which came out on February 17.
SUNY Broome held a brief lead of a few points in the opening minutes of the contest before Genesee moved ahead. The Hornets managed to keep it close with the Cougars for the majority of the first half, not trailing by double digits until 5:56 left in the half. SUNY Broome cut the Genesee lead to six with 3:16 left to play. The Cougars used a 10-2 run over the next three minutes to go up by 14 at the half.
SUNY Broome was only outscored by three points in a more competitive second half, but the earlier Genesee coushin was too much for the Hornets to overcome.
Christopher Zielewicz led the Hornets in scoring with 14 points, adding three rebounds. Isaiah Sanders had 12 points on 5-12 shooting off the bench. Tyrell Davender had eight points, six rebounds, and two assists. Braeden Davis contributed seven points. Alaghi Kanu was slotted into the starting lineup for the contest and tallied seven points, three rebounds, and three assists.
SUNY Broome fell to 9-13 with the loss.
