Men's Basketball Drops Home Game With #8 Herkimer

It was the second day in a row that the Hornets faced a top-10 nationally-ranked opponent, having battled #1 Mohawk Valley CC on Saturday.
Similarly to the first half of the Mohawk Valley matchup, SUNY Broome matched the pace and level of play of the Generals throughout the first 20 minutes of basketball. The Hornets held a few minimal leads early on in the half and there were multiple ties as the teams traded baskets for stretches. Ultimately, SUNY Broome was down just 37-31 at the break.
The Generals asserted more control in the second half and outscored the Hornets by 18 points to arrive at the win.
Dejon Williams carried the Hornets in scoring with a game-high 30 points. The next highest points output from either team was 13. Williams shot 5-12 from three-point range and added six rebounds and two steals.
Christopher Zielewicz was the Hornets' second-leading scorer with seven points, four rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block. Ponce Williams had six points and three assists. Tyrell Davender added six points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals off the bench.
SUNY Broome fell to 3-6 overall with the loss, but maintains a 2-0 mark in conference play. The team will be off until January 11, a road date vs conference rival Tompkins Cortland CC.
