SUNY Broome was in control of the contest from wire to wire, holding a marginal advantage throughout before pulling away late to secure the convincing win.
The Hornets jumped out to a 10-7 lead after six minutes of play. Midway through the first half, the Hornets had extended their lead to double digits at 27-17. SUNY Broome was up 39-35 at the one-minute mark in the first half, and took a 44-39 lead into the break.
With 12:30 left in the second half, SUNY Broome led 57-53. The Hornets went on a 10-2 run over the next 2:30, extending the lead to 67-55 with 10 minutes remaining. Corning trimmed the deficit to 72-65 with just under five minutes to go, but another SUNY Broome run down the closing stretch was capped off with Joshua Bernard slamming home the exclamation point dunk to put the Hornets up by 13 with less than a minute left.
Davender led all scorers in the contest with 23 on 6-8 shooting and 11-11 at the line. Ponce Williams collected the second-highest point total of the game with 15. Isaiah Sanders added 11 points, five rebounds, and three assists off the bench. Dejon Williams contributed nine points and eight rebounds. Wyeth Lamont went for eight points and five rebounds off the bench as the Hornets had 49 bench points. Bernard had seven points and six rebounds.
SUNY Broome moved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in conference with the win.
