Game 1: SUNY Broome 0, SUNY Adirondack 10
The Timberwolves' scoring in the opening game was spread out across the length of the contest. SUNY Adirondack was held scoreless in the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 6th, but scored multiple runs in the 2nd, 4th, and 7th. After plating three runs in the 2nd, the Timberwolves struck for four in the 4th, taking a 7-0 lead. After five, the 7-0 advantage was not enough to enact the 10-run and five-inning mercy rule, so the game continued. Following a scoreless 6th, SUNY Adirondack plated three runs in the 7th to arrive at the 10-0 win.
SUNY Broome, meanwhile, was kept off the scoreboard in all innings and was limited to three hits in the contest.
Peter Cruz started the game on the mound for the Hornets and pitched the first four innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs. He walked five and struck out three, suffering the loss. Cruz has been an effective pitcher all season, so this loss was just his third of the year, while he has four wins.
Luke Grassi relieved the final three innings, allowing one hit and three runs, with five walks and three strikeouts.
Landon Hepditch logged two of the Hornets' three hits. Santino Michitti had the other. Kaiden Cannistra drew a walk.
Game 2: SUNY Broome 8, SUNY Adirondack 11
The Hornets started off hot in the second game as their chances for a split of the twinbill looked legitimate. SUNY Broome posted five runs in the 1st and another in the 2nd, and after a scoreless third inning by both teams, the Hornets had a 6-0 lead entering the 4th. The Timberwolves found themselves back in the game by scoring three in the top of the 4th and making the score 6-3. After a scoreless fifth inning by both teams, SUNY Broome's lead collapsed in the 6th as SUNY Adirondack exploded for eight runs. Suddenly trailing 11-6, the Hornets scored two runs in the 6th but could not make up the 3-run deficit in the 7th and ultimately lost the second game.
Brady Blair started on the mound for SUNY Broome and pitched five full innings, pitching into the 6th as well. Unfortunately, his otherwise promising performance turned into him being credited with the loss. He allowed seven hits, seven runs (four earned), five walks, and struck out two. Bailey O'Connor followed Blair and allowed four runs (two earned) on two hits and two walks. Evan Persbacker pitched two innings and allowed just one hit, walking one and striking out one.
