Baseball Takes 1 Of 2 At SUNY Adirondack

After getting blanked 10-0 in five innings in game one, the Hornets won game two 8-4 in seven innings and split the twinbill.
As a result, SUNY Broome now sits at 9-23 overall.
With impending weather causing an upcoming doubleheader for this Wednesday to moved to this Sunday, the Hornets will next be in action this Thursday. The updated schedule currently sets up home doubleheaders for Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday of this week.
Game 1: SUNY Broome 0, SUNY Adirondack 10
SUNY Adirondack had a consistent advantage throughout the shortened contest, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the 1st and then adding two runs in the 3rd and four more in the 4th. The Timberwolves collected nine hits and, conversely, the Hornets were limited to two hits and did not score. SUNY Broome committed three errors while SUNY Adirondack had a clean fielding slate.
Luke Grassi allowed three hits, six runs (three earned), and five walks over 3.0 innings, taking the loss. Ethan Flagg entered the game in relief in the 4th, but was unable to record an out and allowed four runs. Then Gregory Inserillo came in and ended up getting all three outs in the 4th and held the Timberwolves scoreless during his time on the mound.
Santino Michitti and Cade Raleigh supplied the two SUNY Broome hits. Michitti's was a double. Jacob Falero and Maximus Morgan each drew a walk.
Game 2: SUNY Broome 8, SUNY Adirondack 4
After both teams traded runs in the first and second innings, leaving the score tied at 2-2, SUNY Broome pulled away with a 4-run top of the 3rd. SUNY Broome added to the lead in the top of the 5th, and then the Timberwolves closed the gap to 7-4 with two runs in the bottom half. The Hornets got an insurance run in the 6th and prevented the Timberwolves from scoring any further.
Brady Blair was quite effective as the Hornets' starting pitcher, shoving a complete game and earning his first win of the season. He limited SUNY Adirondack to six hits and two earned runs over his 7.0 innings, striking out four.
Seven different Hornets picked up a hit in the contest, and Kaiden Cannistra collected two. He was 2-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI.
Carmelo Alessandro was 1-2 with a walk, a run, and an RBI. Peter Cruz had a hit, drew a walk, and scored a run. Landon Hepditch had a hit, a sacrifice fly, a walk, and two runs. Bailey O'Connor doubled and had an RBI and scored a run. Manuel Paulino had a hit and two RBI. Falero had a hit. Raleigh drew a walk and scored a run.
Alessandro and Paulino added a stolen base each.
The Hornets walked more times (5) than struck out (4).
