Baseball Splits With Finger Lakes

The SUNY Broome baseball team hosted Finger Lakes CC for a doubleheader on April 30, splitting the two games.
SUNY Broome used a 5-run fourth inning to turn a 2-2 into a 7-2 lead and ultimately won 7-3 in the opening game. The Lakers, however, responded with eight runs in the first inning of the second contest and took that game 14-3 in five innings.
The Hornets moved to a record of 10-24 after the two games.
Game 1: SUNY Broome 7, Finger Lakes 3
The Lakers scored a run in each of the first two innings, while the Hornets scored a run in the second and third innings. After three, the score was even at 2-2. SUNY Broome held the Lakers scoreless in the top of the 4th and then ran off five runs in the bottom of the 4th to take a comfortable lead. The Hornets did not allow Finger Lakes to get back on the board until one run was scored in the top of the 7th.
Otherwise, the teams played a competitive game as neither group made an error and SUNY Broome finished with eight hits while Finger Lakes finished with seven.
Gregory Inserillo earned his first win of the season behind a complete-game performance. Inserillo allowed seven hits and limited the Lakers to just three runs over seven innings.
Kaiden Cannistra and Darlyn De Los Angeles were very successful at the top of the Hornets' lineup as the 1-2 duo. Cannistra went 2-4 with an RBI and De los Angeles was 2-3 with an RBI.
Zechariah Clouston added a double, drew a walk, and scored two runs. Cade Raleigh had a 2-RBI double and scored a run. Jacob Falero had an RBI and Manuel Paulino drove in two.
The Hornets' had an effective approach at the plate as a whole, drawing four walks and striking out just three times.
Game 2: SUNY Broome 3, Finger Lakes 14
The Lakers jumped out to an early 8-2 lead after the first inning. By the end of the third inning, Finger Lakes had put SUNY Broome in a 12-3 hole. With another run in the 4th and then in the 5th, the Lakers closed out the game early because of the 10-run rule.
While Finger Lakes jumped on Hornets' starter Ethan Flagg early, none of the runs he allowed in the first inning were earned. Evan Persbacker relieved Flagg for the next two innings, surrendering four runs. Landon Hepditch pitched the fourth inning. Ethan Matthews pitched the 5th.
SUNY Broome was limited to two hits in the game. Cannistra had a hit, drew a walk, drove in a run, and scored a run. Maximus Morgan had the other hit. Carmelo Alessandro also had an RBI on a sac fly. Clouston had an RBI.
