The women's volleyball team visited Genesee CC on September 6 for a POD and lost two matches.
The Hornets suffered a 3-2 loss vs Jamestown CC in the first match of the day before losing 3-0 to the host Genesee CC in their second match of the POD.
Match 1: SUNY Broome 2, Jamestown 3
SUNY Broome looked like it was on its way to a sweep in the first match of the POD after winning the first two sets, but the Jayhawks responded with a win in three straight sets to pull off a shocking 3-2 win. The final set scores for SUNY Broome were 26-24, 25-19, 22-25, 17-25, and 13-15.
Across the five total sets, the Hornets registered 49 kills compared to 24 errors.
Nevaeh Masso and Amariah Argro were the leading point generators for the Hornets. Masso had a match-high 24 kills in addition to 12 digs, two service aces, and two solo blocks- contributing 28 points. Argro had 17 kills, eight digs, and two solo blocks- accounting for 20 points.
Katie Christian had 18 digs and Kendra Terrell had 18 assists.
Match 2: SUNY Broome 0, Genesee 3
The host Genesee Cougars presented a tough opponent for the Hornets in their second match of the POD, sweeping SUNY Broome 3-0. The Cougars generally overmatched the Hornets in all three sets, with the scores being 25-7, 25-9, and 25-17.
Masso and Argro again fueled the offensive attack by leading the team in kills, while Christian again led the team in digs in the match.
With the two losses, the Hornets fell to 1-3 on the season.
