Zavien Rouhana finished third overall in the Bronco Classic 5K hosted by SUNY Delhi on Wednesday.
Rouhana completed the 5K in a time of 17:25.00, a personal best for the distance.
While it was initially ruled that Rouhana earned 2nd place and therefore notably finished ahead of the entire host SUNY Delhi team, the finish was contested and the new ruling asserted that Rouhana earned 3rd place in the race.
Behind Rouhana was Jacob Quail in 16th place with a time of 20:47.00, another personal best for the 5K distance. The previous fastest time at that distance in Quail's running career was a 24:02.
Maaz Hussain and Alexander Asinovsky earned 22nd and 23rd place, respectively, to close things out for the Hornets. Hussain logged a time of 23:24.40 while Asinovsky recorded a time of 24:21.80.
With several promising performances on the day, the SUNY Broome men's cross country team will look to build off the positive momentum when the Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) Championship meet takes place on October 18.
