Men Set Three School Records At Cortland Classic
The men's track & field team put together a successful weekend at the Cortland Classic on April 18 and 19.
The men's track & field team put together a successful weekend at the Cortland Classic on April 18 and 19.
Over the weekend, Zavien Rouhana competed for points toward the 2025 NJCAA Division III Region III Championships, which will be held later this season in Little Falls, NY. Rouhana ran the men's 10,000 meter race in 37:50.03, taking 9th place overall and being the second finisher among Region III athletes. Thus, Rouhana won 2nd place in the Region III Championships for the men's 10,000 meter.
Additionally, the men's team set three new school records in three different events.
The men's 4x400 meter relay team broke the previous school record with a new time of 3:42.98, finishing 8th overall in the event. The relay team consisted of Ya'Siin Bacchas, Nevan Doubleday, Charles Larrabee, and Avery Palumbo. Larrabee also broke the previous school record in the men's 200 meter, completing the event in 23.78 seconds. Finally, Palumbo broke his own school record in the men's 400 meter hurdles by two seconds, finishing the event in 1:04.28 and earning 10th place.
David Akulis reached 1.83 meters in the high jump, which earned him 5th place in the event. Doubleday also competed in the event and jumped 1.68 meters.
Jacob Quail took nearly seven seconds off his previous personal best in the men's 800 meter to finish the event in 2:27.74.
Braeden Goerlich, Yuri Brich, Bacchas, and Larrabee also competed in the semifinals of the men's 100 meter dash. Quail and Goerlich also competed in the long jump.
In addition to Larrabee; Doubleday, Brich, and Bacchas also ran in the men's 200 meter. Doubleday also ran the men's 400 meter in 57.58 seconds.
