The SUNY Broome track & field men's 4x100 meter relay team picked up right where it left off on Friday.
The 4x100 meter relay team had a tremendous 2024 season in which it set a school record time in the beginning of the season and continued to improve throughout the year, routinely breaking its own initial record and setting new ones. The group ended the 2024 campaign with a record time of 45.17 seconds at the Regional meet.
Now, in just one meet, the 2025 4x100 meter relay team has already bested the previous time. At the SUNY Cortland Red Dragon Open on Friday, Yuri Brich, a returning member from last year's 4x100 meter relay team, collaborated with Braeden Goerlich, Charles Larrabee, and Lucas McPeak to take 6th place in the men's 4x100 with a new school record time of 45.12 seconds. This time qualified the group for Nationals.
Brich also ran the men's 100 meter dash in 11.97 seconds, not far off from his school record time of 11.67 seconds set last year. Goerlich completed the 100 meter dash in 11.89 seconds and jumped 4.94 meters in the long jump. Larrabee ran the 100 meter dash in 11.81 seconds and the 200 meter dash in 24.16 seconds. McPeak registered times of 12.04 and 24.56 seconds in the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash, respectively.
David Akulis took 7th place in the men's high jump with a height of 1.75 meters. Nevan Doubleday registered a height of 1.60 meters in the event. Avery Palumbo ran the 110 meter hurdles in 20.07 seconds and set a school record with 1:06.35 in the 400 meter hurdles. Amin Wagner ran the 110 meter hurdles in 18.08 seconds.
Jacob Gaitings competed in the shot put. Jacob Quail competed in the 400 meter run, the 800 meter run, and the long jump. Ya'Siin Bacchas competed in the 100 meter dash.
