When NJCAA Region 3 recognized Competitive Cheer with All-Region distinctions for the first time ever, three SUNY Broome student-athletes found themselves on an All-Region team.
In the awards announced last week, All-Region teams were selected for the sport of Competitive Cheer, with the recipients being chosen from a pool of student-athletes made up of the members of the SUNY Broome and Onondaga CC programs.
The selection of these student-athletes to All-Region for Competitive Cheer was based on the following criteria:
Achievement- balances their commitment to the team with their schoolwork while continuing to grow their skills in the sport
Leadership- models teamwork, accountability, communication; and supports teammates in practice, competition, and events
Outstanding Ability- shows advanced technical skill and execution appropriate to role (motions, jumps, tumbling, stunting, dance, timing, and performance quality)
Excellent Character- displays sportsmanship, respect, coachability, reliability, and represents school/program values on and off the mat
Based on the above criteria, Joey Aldorf, Keira Combs, and Natalie Cerruzzi were given the All-Region designation. Aldorf and Combs were selected to the NJCAA Region 3 All-Region First Team, while Cerruzzi made the NJCAA Region 3 All-Region Second Team.
Congratulations to Aldorf, Combs, and Cerruzzi on being recognized for their outstanding accomplishments in helping lead the SUNY Broome competitive cheer team to a successful season this year.
