NJCAA Region 3 Honors SUNY Broome With Community Service Award
The SUNY Broome Athletic Department was one of three member departments to be awarded the Community Service Award by NJCAA Region 3 as part of the end-of-year awards.
The SUNY Broome Athletic Department was one of three member departments to be awarded the Community Service Award by NJCAA Region 3 as part of the end-of-year awards.
The Athletic Departments from Hudson Valley CC and North Country CC also received the award.
The 2025-26 year is the second consecutive year in which SUNY Broome Athletics has been recognized with the honor.
In order to qualify for this acknowledgement, a college's Athletic Department must participate in a number of community service events that is at least equal to the number of sports it offers, with a minimum of five events required for the year.
SUNY Broome Athletics has 12 sport offerings, and was able to complete more than 12 combined department-wide and team-specific community service initiatives throughout the year.
Some of SUNY Broome Athletics' community service efforts included: Astor Rice Foundation Thursday Family Nights, SUNY Broome Student Move-In Day, Hornet Hope Center Challenge, Dig Pink volleyball matches which benefitted breast cancer awareness, The Giving Of The Toys Ceremony which benefitted Toys for Tots, American Civic Association events, Coaches vs Cancer-themed basketball games which benefitted the American Cancer Society, etc.
The SUNY Broome Athletic Department is proud and honored to be acknowledged with this award for the second year in a row and is thankful to the coaches and student-athletes who helped in collaborating for the community service throughout the year.
