Anna Barnes begins her third season as the assistant coach for the SUNY Broome women’s basketball program, where she focuses on fostering player development and a strong team culture while supporting the program’s tradition of hard work and competitiveness.

During her playing career, Barnes competed for Vestal High School, where she led her team in rebounds her senior year, before continuing her collegiate career at SUNY Broome. As a freshman, she averaged 11.9 points and 13.8 rebounds per game, earning end-of-season All-Mid-State Athletic Conference and All-Region honors. Barnes was also named Region III and NJCAA Division III Player of the Week after an impressive stretch where she averaged 25.5 points and 21 rebounds per game, highlighted by a 35-point, 20-rebound performance against Cayuga and a 22-rebound effort versus nationally ranked Onondaga.

In addition to her role at SUNY Broome, Barnes has served as head coach for several Interstate Athletics AAU teams and as head coach of the junior varsity programs at Homer and Seton Catholic Central high schools.

Barnes earned two associate degrees from SUNY Broome in Sports Management and Sports Studies, a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland, and a master’s degree in Sport Management from SUNY Cortland.
