Women Finish With Season Perfect Record In Region III

With a 2-1 victory at Genesee CC today, SUNY Broome women's soccer becomes the only team in Region III with a perfect record at 16-0. The Hornets earned the #1 seed for the upcoming NJCAA Region III Tournament and will face the winner of a first round game between Mohawk Valley (6-6-2;7-7-2) and Onondaga (7-6-1;7-8-1). Marissa Michitti had the first goal in the 38th minute as midfielder Emiley Myers delivered a perfectly timed through ball to Michitti's feet which she played past the oncoming Cougar keeper, Kate Tubo, who had 12 saves on the day...4 of which she was airborne for. Kaelyn Michitti got the winning goal in the 43rd minute, her 36th of the season, off a feed from Kendra Henry to finish the scoring for the Hornets.  Genesee's (10-3;12-5) Jenna Lewis drew the hosts a goal closer in the 86th minute but it was too little to late to stop the Hornets (16-0;16-1).

Broome will play their last game at home this Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in a Region III semi-final match against the winner of a sub-regional game played on Monday.
